Hygiene Measures

Transmission routes of infectious diseases

The decisive factor for the selection of hygiene measures is the transmission route of an infectious disease. Here you can find out which protective measures are suitable and when.

Knowing the different ways in which infectious diseases are transmitted is important for patient and occupational safety as well as for the economic use of resources. The different hygiene measures depend on the route of transmission: if transmission occurs via droplets and particles from the air, or aerosols wearing a mask is particularly important; in the case of contact and smear infections, disinfection and the wearing of gloves and gowns are of primary importance.
