Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (or glycopeptide-resistant enterococci - GRE). Enterococcal isolates or strains that are resistant to many classes of antibiotics, including vancomycin. Here, vancomycin represents the main antibiotic for proving multiresistance. For several years, linezolid is used as reserve antibiotic. Linezolid belongs to the group of oxazolidinones, one of the latest available antibiotic groups. Also here, resistance has already occurred.
