Surgical site infections

One of the most common
healthcare-associated infections worldwide

Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a significant concern in healthcare. They occur when bacteria or other pathogens enter a surgical wound, leading to an infection. SSIs can prolong hospital stays, increase healthcare costs, and cause patient discomfort and complications. The likelihood of an SSI occurring depends, among other things, on the type of surgery. Preventive measures, such as proper hand hygiene, surface disinfection, safe products and adherence to aseptic techniques, are crucial in reducing the risk of SSIs.
