Yellow fever virus is an enveloped virus in the form of an icosahedral capsid (spherical shape), belonging to the Flaviviridae family.

Infections with this virus elicit yellow fever (incl. haemorrhagic fever).

Yellow fever virus is primarily transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.
