Treponema pallidum
(bacterium)

Treponema pallidum is an aerobic, Gram-negative bacterium in the Spirochaetaceae family which is spiral in shape.

It may elicit syphilis (sexually transmitted disease).

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
