Bacteroides fragilis

Bacteroides fragilis is an anaerobic, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium and belongs to the family of Bacteroidaceae.

Bacteroides fragilis is known as major pathogen of wound septicaemia.

The bacterium is extensively resistant to antibiotics, particularly ?-lactam antibiotics.

Bacteroides fragilis is primarily transmitted via bites.
