Providencia stuartii is a rod-shaped, gram-negative bacterium which belongs to the Enterobacteriaceae.

The flagellate bacterium is responsible for urinary tract infections and gastrointestinal infections.

Providencia stuartii is often multi-resistant, also against Gentamicin and Ampicillin.

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
