Lassa virus is an enveloped virus in the Arenaviridae family. The virus is polymorphic in shape.

The clinical course of Lassa virus includes haemorrhagic fever and pneumonia respectively.

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
