European Norm (Phase 2/Step 2) methodology for testing disinfectants for the use in human medicine. This method aims at testing the efficacy of a preparation under practical conditions that resemble practice to the greatest possible extent. Examples are EN 1500 for hygienic hand disinfection and EN 12791 for surgical hand disinfection.
Phase 2 / Step 2 tests vary depending on the disinfectant's application area. The results of the practical test define the declaration of concentration and exposure time on the disinfectants labels.
