Cryptosporidium hominis
(parasite)

Cryptosporidium hominis is a protozoal (single-celled) parasite belonging to the family of Cryptosporidiidae.

The pathogen predominantly colonises the small intestine and causes cryptosporidiosis. This diarrhoeal disease may be life threatening in patients with weak immune system.

Transmission mainly occurs via contaminated water and food respectively.

Parasites cannot be killed by disinfectants.
